We planned a short tour in South Africa. I had quit a challenge. Because 5 weeks before this trip I broke my wrist. Of course the one I use for the camera. We started our trip in the heart of the KwaZulu-Natal Drakensberg. This is where we spotted a lot of African Cape Weavers, busy building their nests.
iSimangaliso Wetland Park
Our next stop was at iSimangaliso Wetland Park.
Zululand Valley
We stayed in Phinda which is situated in the lush Zululand region of Northern KwaZulu Natal. We had high expectations because of the good reviews. But they were not fully realized. For example there are hardly any cheetahs. And the ones out there are very shy. Despite that, and despite the rain, we were still able to get some nice pictures. We loved our time there.
Hermanus
Hermanus is a little town at the southern cost of the Western Cape province. It’s a great location to spot the Southern Right Wales. Not the most photographic species, but the area has way more to offer.
Cape Town
Nearby Cape Town there is a winery which we visited on different occasions. We enjoy the good food and wine. It’s a nice location for a little rest before we fly back to Amsterdam.
On every visit we have spotted the Cape Eagle Owl. They are almost domestic over there. So despite the wine I was still able to take a nice picture
